Angel stared in amusement as a large moving van pulled out of the driveway next door. The house was a very large and very old mansion. She let out a small giggle, she'd known the family wouldn't make it there for very long. The mansion was, afterall, said to be haunted. Said to be haunted by the long deceased Miss Youngs, the owner of the once well-known corn mill. Her eyes widened as a light flickered from inside.
"Forget it, Angel, ghosts don't exist."
Angel turned to face Bones who was leering at the lit window, Bones always appeared to be angry, Angel shrugged, "That's what humans say about us", she responded coolly. Bones's glare slid down to her, he hated when people didn't listen to him. Angel paid him no attention and continued on, "It must be true if they've already chosen to run away! Like all of the others!"
"Angel, they moved because they were surrounded by weirdos. Not because of a silly myth."
Angel fluffed her thin hair and sighed, "Well, what would you know?" Was all she said before getting up and going back inside their own mansion. Bones gritted his teeth, people like Angel really bothered him. He plopped himself down where she had been sitting and watched the window as the light dimmed and vanished.
Angel, you're so ignorant, I don't understand why you can't look at things reasonably--like me. Humans come and go around here only because the entire road of Youngs Mill Road is inhabited by nothing but vampires. Accept it, we'll never fit in with them, he thought as if Angel would actually hear what he was thinking. Bones jumped when he felt someone sit next to him, "WHAT NOW?" He demanded only to jump again, "Oh, sorry there, Kado. I thought you were Angel again", he ruffled Kado's hair and looked up at the stars and pale moon above them.
Kado followed his stare towards the sky, "What kind of people do you think will move next door next, Bones?"
Bones stared down at him and Kado stared up at him attentively, "I dunno, kid. Hopefully nobody."
. . .
Bones walked briskly down a dark ally way, rain was pouring down on him. He felt his heart pounding as the scent of a human became stronger, he licked his fangs as his instincts began to take over. He stopped, wondering again if he should do it or not. Once regaining his confidence he continued until he reached the unsuspecting victim. He grabbed the man's shoulder and the man stopped, they both stood there for a moment wondering what was going to happen next. Bone's made the first move, leaning down to his neck and tilting his head slightly he began sucking blood out of the man. He knew it was wrong but every fiber in him was begging for more.
Bone's bolted upright in bed, his heart was still pounding. It had only been a dream. He ran his hand through his hair. So what if I went after a helpless hobo? Would anyone really care if something were to happen to someone like that? Bones shook his head, he yearned for human blood so badly but he knew he'd be in trouble if he actually went after someone. . . He dropped back down on the bed and stared up at the ceiling, he could hear the pattering of rain on the roof. The door to his room clicked open, Angel stepped in.
"Bones? Are you awake?" She asked him.
He leered, "Yes, what do you want?"
Angel put her hands on her hip, "Why do you have to be so rude all the time! Why can't you be nice!?"
"What do you want?" Bones repeated impatiently.
Angel sighed, "I was wondering if you wanted to come outside with me, it's cloudy and rainy."
"Angel. It's daytime. I don't give a damn if it's cloudy or not."
Angel stared angrily at him, "Don't talk to me like that!"
"Oh, my god, shut up, Angel", Angel wasn't like Bones and Kado. She hadn't always been a vampire like them and unlike them yearned for the sunlight.
"Please?"
"Angel", he began as he rolled back over and sat up again, "Why do you need me to go? Why can't you just go by yourself?"
Angel stared for a moment before turning and walking away, closing the door behind her. Bones shrugged, "Not my problem", he said before lying back down.
